What are some much better than the alternatives to Google AdWords advertising?

Adwords is charging outrageous amounts of bids for many of my keywords even $ 10 minimum for 4 to 5 key phrases, so we need some very good alternatives that will drive targeted traffic to my site. I dislike Yahoo Search Marketing (too complicated). I just need to know some good services to help with this. Thank you
